Performing a quick install on AMD64, Intel 64, and 64-bit ARM

Follow this procedure to perform a quick installation on AMD64, Intel 64, and 64-bit ARM architectures using the graphical user interface. To complete this procedure you must be familiar with CentOS and your environment, and you must be able to accept the default settings provided by the installation program.

Prerequisites

You have downloaded the required ISO image file. See Downloading the installation ISO image for more information.
You have created bootable installation media. See Creating installation media for more information.
You have booted the installation program and the boot menu is displayed. See Booting the installation for more information.

Procedure

From the boot menu, select Install CentOS 8.
Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
From the Welcome to CentOS 8 window, select your language and location.

Click Continue to proceed to the Installation Summary window.

The Installation Summary window is the central hub that you can use to configure the CentOS graphical user interface. The default settings assigned by the installation program are displayed under each category.

From the Installation Summary window, accept the default Localization and Software options.
Select System > Installation Destination.
1. From the Local Standard Disks pane, select the target disk.
2. Click Done to accept the selection and the default setting of automatic partitioning, and return to the Installation Summary window.
Select Network & Host Name.
1. Toggle the Ethernet switch to ON to enable network configuration.
  1. Optional: Select a network device and click Configure to update the network interface configuration.
2. Click Done to accept the changes and return to the Installation Summary window.
Optional: Select Security Policy.
1. Select the profile that you require, and click Select profile.
2. Click Done to accept the changes and return to the Installation Summary window.
Optional: Select System Purpose.
1. Select the role, service level agreement, and usage.
2. Click Done to accept the changes and return to the Installation Summary window.
Click Begin Installation to start the installation.
From the Configuration window, configure a root password and create a user account.
When the installation process is complete, click Reboot to restart the system.
From the Initial Setup window, accept the licensing agreement and register your system.
